I just recently bought a Walt Johnson case for my Rudy CCC. Flying from Newark to Chicago on Unitied I had no problems (even though a baggage handler had to wheel the thing from the check-in desk to the tarmac). On the way back though, I was told by the lady at the check-in desk to go to the oversized baggage check-in. There I was promptly charged the $75 overweight charge (I had a bunch of clothes in the case, making it 90 lbs). The lady there would have none of the "I've never been charged for it before" argument either.
Next time I will try the Sky-caps.
