Was using Al Cass on my rotary Mirafone and I like it fine for the rotors. I usually squirt a liberal amount in the leadpipe at least once a week, sometimes more often. Recently I decided to try ultrapure lamp oil, because of what I read on this BBS. I do believe it works as well as Al Cass, at least in the short term. Did have one problem with it, though -- left a small bottle out in the car overnight in winter (~20deg F). It froze!! At least something in it (I assume water) crystalized and melted out after about a half hour in my pocket.

I use Hetman tuning slide oil on my slides and that works great.
