What about the Tennessee Tech mutes? I don't know what they cost, but I've had one for years and it works great. The Wick mutes are also good. I have a Wick practice mute as well as the Silent Brass. If you're ever in the market for a practice mute, look to the silent brass, even if you don't want to shell out the $$$ for the electronics. The mute as a stand alone purchase is a great one.
