I wholeheartedly agree with there are some pretty big shoes out there to fill, however David has an advantage over the above mentioned. More important than his bloodline and mentorship from his father, he can study from and listen to recordings of all those who have brought the art form to where it exists today, and pick up where they left off. As for the comment about "you can only go so far" (another post on this thread), that sentiment is constantly being proven wrong with each generation
