-to play stacatto just look to the meaning of the word. i belive that it's translation is "separated". now as to how seperated the notes should be, that really depends on the piece and your personal interpretation. (i.e. i think it should be more separated here than here)

-slurring is just the opposite of stacatto. instead of separating the notes, connect them. just dont stop the air flow. ya know what i mean?
