The picture comes from the back cover of the programme booklet for the Copenhagen Jazz Festival in the summer of 1989 or 1990. The festival is a 10 days event every year in July.

The picture is, as other posters have mentioned, a photo manipulation. The original booklet cover was in high gloss, high resolution print. There were none of the usual jumps in surface quality to give away the manipulation (the Dutch reproduction does give the original justice, when it comes to quality).

Yet the manipulation reveals itself at exactly one point. Whereas the lower (brass) bell stack is reasonably flush with the upper (glass) flare at the mouthpiece side, there is a significant jump in diameter from below the leadpipe to above the leadpipe on the body side.

The history behind the picture is, that the brewery Tuborg has been the main sponsor of the Copenhagen Jazz Festival through all of its 2 or more decades. The shape of the glass is easily recognized as being identical to the ones used in other Tuborg commercials.
