It's not the metal expanding and contracting that changes tuning, but rather its effect on the temperature of the air passing through it. The relationship of speed of sound in dry air is approximately v = 331.4 + 0.6 T, where T is the temperature in celsius and v is the speed in meters/second. The expansion of brass, on the other hand, is measured over the same range in parts per million.

Other variables, such as humidity and CO2 concentration can change the pitch (try filling your horn with helium or CO2 and see what it does to the pitch).
