Chris Tiedeman is 19 years old...the orchestras basically wouldn't give him the time of day, but he won the Marine Band gig...

what a loss for them...they had such a great player under their noses, and those that have heard him would say that he is the best they have heard at his age. But the orchestras invited the guys that were "experienced." No matter how you look at it, very sad situation...are they under the impression that they are "too good" for the hard working musician that has just never had the opportunity, being in the right place at the right time, to sub for some other orchestra? Are they too lazy to screen that many people? You can usually tell how good someone is by the first few notes they play...these auditions could be decided by someone playing the c major scale...you just have to listen.

but, this is the "real" world and politics go above talent and playing ability...
