The piece is kind of fun, but I wasn't impressed by the tuba writing. Of Poulenc's French contempories (1920s-40s) I think we'd find a lot more challenge and gratification in pieces by Milhaud and Honegger, and at least one piece by Satie, the ballet Parade.
