You are right that the Sander factory was lost during the war.
Some of the grand confusion about Sander exists because of
what happened with stock that was squirreled away during
the war and sold afterward. In occupied Germany there were tight
strictures imposed on export c. 1945-1948 which made sale of stashed
inventory of consumer goods very difficult. I'm told this is why
some Sander-built tubas were engraved "Sanders" and often had "Made in W. Germany"
engraved on them as well, apparently this made it easier to avoid their i.d.
as non-postwar assets?
It doesn't help that a U.S. marketeer adopted the name "Sanders" for their in-house
line of horns, having that name stenciled on horns produced in Eastern Europe,
West Germany, and most recently the far east, all in the past 35 years or so.
I'd love to see a foto of your Sander f, does it have slant-rotors or a main slide
on the left hand as did some of their rotary CC's?
Either way, Paul I highly suggest you correspond with Nick and Mr. Marzan re: more Sander history
