I had one of these horns on trial for a couple of weeks. I think it is a tuba of very high quality construction. It was definitely built as a solo instrument. It has the typical German F rotary low notes that take some getting used to but overall a very nice sound and the intonation is reasonable. The one I tried had a thumb activated 5th valve on the right hand. I was looking for a smallish F tuba at the time and opted for the Yamaha YFB621 which fit the bill for me with it's solid low register and bigger sound. As a personal horn for the use you describe, the MW 182 may work very well.
