Each mute works differantly on each tuba IMHO. They tend to sit in the bell differently. I personally have had good sucess with the H&B All Metal Symphonic Mute. It soesn't affect the low register to much and the intonation in barible. I never have had luck with wooden one (most of the wooden ones I've tried have been pretty cheap.) A freind of mine has a Dennis Wick and I like that a lot. My school used to have H&B Stonelined staight mutes...yuck they sounded even worse then most mutes with terrible low register responce and intonation.
