My 2145 has had plenty of valve problems too. From what I was told Meinl Weston outsources their piston valve set production to the same person that makes them for Hirsbrunners, although they were planning on eventually making their own. I think most of my problems have been caused by corosion formed in the bottom of the valve casing that makes the valve stick down. The only solution I've found is either taking it to a shop for an acid cleaning, or getting off the end caps and using an old toothbrush and toothpaste. I'm sure replacing the springs and valve guides would help though. And both of those are minor tasks for a good repair shop.
