I own both a 2165 and a 45SLP which use the same valve sets. I don't really notice any of the problems you mention. I really like the action I get. I was having some problems when I switched to Binak even though everybody else who has tried it thinks it's a wonder oil. After using everything from Hetman to good ole Al Cass, I settled on Spacefiller and it works great. Valve guides do wear out no matter what they're made of - they last just as long in these horns as they did in my Hirsbrunner. As for springs, you can try a lot of different kinds until you get what you want. Many people like the Besson - the stock Meinl ones work fine for me.

Good Luck!

Bryan
