Dan,

I'm surprised you are having problems with your MW valves. My experiences have been with the two Meinl Weston tubas I've owned-------a rotary valved Wm Bell CC, and my new MW 2145 4p/5th rotor. The valves are great on both these horns. The pistons are lightning fast with no play at all. The guides are metal. I do have to clean the pistons weekly on the new 2145 because they are just being broken in. I seem to remember someone posting that the cleaning and re-oiling becomes less frequently needed when the pistons become "seated". (I'm using the B&S valve oil that came with my B&S B flat and C trumpets. It's great oil.) Good luck in solving your valve problem.
