I think when I played a classic guitar solo when I was 16 for a well-known artist in a master class and received a lot of praise and encouragement. (Back then, I played 1/classic guitar [practiced 6 hours a day] 2/ electric bass [good $$$, easy, and beat pumpin' gas for an 11th grader], and 3/ tuba [at "school"]).

Re Lawrence Welk: One of the biggest "kicks" that I ever had was having our band's (that I was a member of) rhythm section asked to play behind Henry Cuesta (that Lawrence Welk black-haired/black horn-rimmed glasses clarinet and sax player), a "guest star" at a couple of west coast jazz festivals in which our band also performed. He is/was a VERY virtuostic and energetic player, and inspired us to play at the top of our abilities and imaginations.
