I am going to gravitate to the "we play the tuba because it is who we are". Tuba players are underdogs, we are the youngest, least understood "child" in the brass family. I always thought of the tuba as the one sane person in a big dysfunctional family. Unfortunately, we are becoming more and more like trumpet players everyday. Wouldn't it have been nice to see a thread along the lines of "BSO Rep, How about some input" where ANYONE could have gained or added insight to our little corner of the world? Again, we are humans, foibles and all. Thanks, Tim, for the thought provoking follow-up.
