The group he currently is in charge of, Metropolitan Winds is the new name for the Coppell Civic Band (or something like that). They are now play at a high school in Carrollton.

They did a concert not too long ago that was just wind band music. Rocky Point Holiday, Hindemith Symphony, Under the Double Eagle, Chorale and Cappricio, Festivo, and Lincolnshire Posy made up the program. They have also done the Firebird, Rhapsody in Blue, Pines of Rome, and Sorcerer's apprentice...music from Fantasia. They put out a CD a while ago of Film Scores...Superman, Star Wars, etc. He has some neat arrangements of musicals too.

He still runs an "all welcome" group...nobody auditions, and they don't really have chairs. He has managed to get all kinds of players including many fine musicians.

They do lots of concerts and play at the Meyerson Symphony center on occasion.

Oh, you are 100% correct about his approach to running a community band, which is probably a major reason why his groups are so good.
