There's a children's museum in Cedar Rapids, IA that has two old fiberglass satellite dishes mounted on opposite sides of a noisy room (yes, that was CHILDREN's museum). Each satellite dish has a metal ring mounted precisely at the focus of the parabola. You can have a whispering conversation with the person on the other side of the room by putting you mouth or ear into the ring. VERY cool, and really brought the concept home to my kids.
