Austin,
My question is what type of playing do you want to do? I found that CC tuba makes the flat keys more difficult and the sharp keys easier. The thing that you have to find is which key will help you produce the sound you want to hear. Most orchestral CC tubas are extremely large and sound close to a BBb. Many smaller CC tubas, like the one I play on, have a very distinct CC sound that is usually more focused and sounds sharper. Some people will argue that the two instruments should sound the same but they don't. A friend of mine recently purchased a VMI 3301, I think that is the number. Any way, the horn is the BBb version of my PT4P. I had the chance to play both side by side and the sound difference in sound is very apparent. To me the BBb sounded warmer and fuller.
So I would say that depending on what type of work you want to do, to think about the sound you want and will need. Above all try as many tubas and get the one you like that suits your needs and keep making music.
