The horn that gave me the biggest goosebumps just playing one note was the 6/4 York with the Nirschl valves that Fedderly brought to the Army tuba conference. It was a profound one-note experience.

There is a spot in the Prokofiev 5th where the tuba plays a helf-note G at the bottom of the staff, followed by the C below it. It's something like mp, and it's all by itself. When I get a good tone on those two notes, it is more satisfying than just about anything thing else I can do on the tuba. Of my own horns, the York Master is the most satisfying on those two notes.
