Interesting concept there, and it has its true points. however: How many times have You watched people testing instruments and the same individual tuba had incredible projection ( just as You defined it) with one person, versus practically none with the next...?
Personally I think, that the ionstrument may have SOME influence, but the main job of playing with good projection lies with the musician. As to how to achieve that read "song and wind" and/or find a teacher that can help You open up the pathways for Your air and breathing. Sounds harsh, but has proven only too true for me.!
