If you are worried about the duty - THERE ISN'T ANY, and if you do the brokerage yourself then you won't have to worry about any fees. I recently imported a tuba from Germany, did all the paperwork myself right at the airport, and had no problems. Most brokerage firms would have you think this is a big deal, but it isn't. The trick is to walk into Customs Canada and act as if you know nothing at all - they will be quite helpful. You would still have to consider shipping costs, and of course our lovely GST, but definitely no duty. You didn't mention a budget, but my suggestion would be to spend the time finding a decent (that could be a broad interpretation) horn and consider looking south of the border, especially if you live in eastern Canada (shipping is pretty cheap).
Good luck!
