The Rusk/Holton I used had a 5th valve in the leadpipe, and it didn't bother me a bit. I had some extra work done to it between installation and my purchase, but whatever was done worked great. My holton sounded abolutely fantastic with an orchestra or band in the hands of the able musicians I heard play it. Several pro symphonic players really dug this horn and never mentioned any problems with the added valve.
but then again, every one of these horns is quite unique.
