Mario:

There is no one solution for overtrained chops. The best cure is prevention. There is a rash of it where I work. Many of my colleagues have seen "specialists". This is what I have gathered.

#1 Warm up and warm down. Just like an athelete. Once the "injury" is there, it can re occur very easily. So many of us throw our horns to the case immediatly after a gig. Take a couple of minutes and warm down.

#2 Rest is important. Don't let your pride get in the way. Once you've been injured, stay away from extended practice without rest.

#3 If swelling occurs, use ice. If consistent swelling occurs at every session, something is wrong. Ice, rest, and an anti inflammatory. Talk to a teacher. Immediatly.

#4. How we play in the warm-up (fundamentals) we need to transfer to our practice/ gig. Keep working on the fundamentals.

remember... Safety pup says
"keep your chops healthy"
