My C piggy is ok for smaller stuff, but it doesn't project really well in the low register. (below low G, as compared to a mirafone 186) The one that I have is (according to my local pro) one of the best he's played, but from what I understand, these horns can be very inconsistent from one horn to the next, especially the older ones. Lke I said, quintet or small band it's OK, but even in my 50-piece community band, though it will produce the volume needed, it's a lot of work to do it. I am looking for a "bigger", more versatile horn to replace it.
