You might consider the VERY easy to locate and deal with "TRIOS FOR ALL" collection (book of duets). You would be purchasing one or two tuba books and one trombone/baritone book.

This is a book of (maybe) a dozen or so easy-to-intermediate trios that can be played with ANY combination of band instruments (PROVIDED EACH PERSON IS READING OUT OF THEIR CORRECT BOOK).

Hey, there are a LOT of cool and cute little tuba trios, but most "hillbilly" music stores won't get them in for you, and you would have to order most especially-written trios (There actually are plenty of them.) from Robert King Music, probably.

The good thing about "TRIOS FOR ALL" is that even "hillbilly" music stores can find those in their sheet music catalogs (or order them from wholesale-only sheet music jobbers like Harris/Teller of Chicago, and get them in immediately) and order them for you, PLUS they sound nice and are easy to put together.

To clarify further, with "TRIOS FOR ALL", provided you had a copy of the flute/piccolo book, the alto saxophone book, and the tuba book, even THAT unlikely ensemble would have an entire book of trios to play that would actually be OK.
