Many tuba teachers say that it is bad technique when playing the tuba with when the cheeks poked out like Dizzie Gillespie. I guess because when blowing air into the mouthpiece the air ricocias off of the mouthpiece or something. But, However, I think that I sound just fine when I play this way. I can get the high notes and the extralow notes and sound as bright, as loud, and as fine, and as fast as any tuba players I've heard. However, would some of you say that it is necessary play this way sometimes or is it just me? It could be the fact that this is just somthing that works for me.
