Hi Folks -

I would have gotten back to this sooner, but it took me a week to
figure out what "indefatigable" means..... We didn't get past
three syllable words in performance class at KU ;-)

Actually, I've been in Michigan, so I'm just now back to returning
e-mails, etc.

Yes, yes, yes, the Street Musicians Competition is open for
applications right up until the first day of registration for ITEC.

While on the road recently, I got lots of questions about "what do
I/we/them play for this thing"??? from interested parties.

The answer: this competition stresses the idea of interacting with
"normal" folks on the street, thus the name Street Musicians
Competition. Your "act" can literally be just about anything you
want, as long as it involves playing the tuba or euphonium. And
as long as it isn't too pornographic, I guess. Although I think the
Canadians are a bit more "laid back" than us Yanks about social
issues.... Just try and stay at least partially clothed.

Of course, first and foremost, we are looking for excellent playing.
Outside of that, we wanna see and hear folks who excel in the
art of communicating with the "common folk" on the street, and in
turn make an impact on those who stop to listen and partake of
the scene. Whatever you can come up with, the wilder the better,
that is what we want. Think tuba ensemble meets outlandishly
extroverted theater company meets rock band meets god knows what
else. You get the picture (I hope...).

Obviously, creativity and your ability to do your own thing will be
a plus here...

So, get your groove down, figure out what you and/or your folks
wanna do, and get your Mo Jo workin', and enter the ITEC 2000
Street Musicians Competition.

If you'd like more information on any of the competitions, please
contact Dennis Askew or check the ITEC 2000
website: http://www.uregina.ca/itec2000

Since I'm the Chair of the competition, you can bug me about it, too.

But no words with more than three syllables. ;-)

Later -

Kelly O.
