I would have to disagree with you on that one... a little piece of rubber wrapped around the edge of your bell is not going to help you become a better player. Note attack and resonance comes from practice and perfection on your particular horn. You should spend more time considering the playing characteristics of your tuba and less on the fact that your bell might get scratched when you lay it on the floor, or stand it up on its bell (which if you're going to do that, you're nuts in the first place-that is really bad for the instrument). There is point between taking care of your horn and making it look stupid... By the way, I like the towel idea... you always look classy if you're at a nice performance and you don't let Niagra run all over the trombonist's feet next to you... definately a must!!!
