If I had a student (and this has happened once)
where s/he didn't have the money for the lesson
*or* their parents thought it was stupid to
spend money on music and the student was
either talented or ready to work, I would
teach them for free.

This only happened once, and said student
wouldn't practice and as soon as I started
charging him (I won't teach you anymore
until your parents pay me), he started
playing better.

You're going to work your butt off if
you're paying big bucks for your lessons.

Just like if you go to college, your parents
or you expect you to make the grade because
it costs $150 per semester hour.

I had some churches that thought I should
play for free because music was a gift
from God. They asked me to play, I heard
some of my other classmates were getting
paid, I assumed I would too. "Oh, you're
a member of the church though. We didn't
know we were suppose to pay you."

Sorry, it's my soap box. I'll get off
of it, now. Farah
