I have tried this with some of my students. I have them work on getting the priveleged notes, i.e.; the notes that happen on the false partial. Simply relax the jaw from low BBb(my example as I play BBb and F)until you find the EEb open. Work on getting that note until it feels good, then add valves, 2 for DD 1 for DDb etc. After they have the pitch in the ear I have them add in the valves using the same chop formation. While the lips will change over time to accomodate the valve resistance, having the pitch in your head helps dramatically. I use the false tones as much as possible in practicing to relax my air. Hope this helps and wasn't too convoluted an explination.
