I concur that Bell's Foundation to Tuba and Sousaphone Playing is a wonderful all-around book, for a beginner and beyond. It starts with the assumption you know nothing about the tuba (or music in general for that matter) and the final piece is the appropriate excerpt from the Berlioz Hungarian March. My copy must be older than yours. It has only the 1931 copyright date and the photos of Bell show him with a tuba and sousaphone I can't identify, but they both have three valves and the tuba valves are pistons. Bell is in a three piece suit and looks like he's ready for a 1931 movie. The cover price is $1.50. It was given to me by my teacher about 45 years ago.
