Well, I made the big transition about a month and a half ago. So, from someone who is still in the middle of it, but knows just a little bit, let me give some advice... First of all... Be Patient. For about 2 weeks it seems like you are at the point of nervous breakdown and throwing the horn out of a window. BUT, if you just go slow and don't expect to be perfect that day then you will be fine. Just practice some easy stuff maybe out of the front of the Arbans Book, or stuff like Clarke Studies would be good. Another thing is to try and play in an ensemble of any type. Whether it is school band, a tuba quartet, or a community band, it will be good to help with fingerings and getting better used to the horn, because in that situation you frankly have to sink or swim. About the teacher... YES, you should absolutely stick with your current teacher or find one who will be able to help you become a better musician and help you through this transition. I wish you the best of luck.
