I've known Toby since we were both students. When I first moved to NYC, I inadvertantly got an apartment in the building next door. Then or now, you couldn't MAKE that happen. Anyway, I used to hear him practicing through the air shaft. "That's a good way to approach things," I would often think to myself. We used to play duets a lot back then, and on a few occasions we worked together. I treasure a tape, AND the experience of a Berlioz Franc Juges we did. Me on my Alex F and he on his York. I agree on all the positive comments, and would add that Toby exemplifies a conclusion I've reached that the real genius in this world is common sense. Toby has a lot of common sense about the profession of playing, and is a naturally instinctive and honest musician. What more could you aske for?
