The impression I got was that indications on the page which change should inspire some type of change. This change is up to the performer to a large degree. Experimentation with any of the 537 different types of articulations will lead to an interpretation which fits the performers ideas.

Mr. Bobo was aiming towards a well thought out plan as to how to approach the composers written indications. In fact, the composer can provide valuable feedback, but at the performance, the music belongs to the ideas of the performer. To simply play music on a tuba is simply unexcusable. One must communicate strong convictions on artistic ideas, and in the process ideals.
