The mid and upper range is good with the PT-50. Tone color is uniform throughout the entire range. I practice only up to the F above the staff. A local pro took it on up to B flat. But, hey, as an amateur orchestral contrabass tuba player I have rarely encountered anything over E flat or E.
I want to emphasize again that everybody is different: thus, some players may find the
PT-50 not to their liking. For me, however, it was a real find after trying many different mouthpieces.
