Actually, there is no "Da" in his name. It's simply Maggio.
Maggio was a great brass teacher in the Los Angeles/Hollywood scene during the middle part of this century. Many of the big name pros in the area had at least a few lessons with him. I did not study with him, but I heard talk (and playing) from many musicians who did. According to some, his methods were controversial. Some of his other students thought he was god. The fact remains that he helped develop many very fine brass players.
Should you buy his expensive method book? Probably not.
