Right on, Roger! Doug Yeo has written some interesting articles recently on this subject that really speak to where we are headed with sounds and ensembles. I encourage all orchestral tubists to read these articles (they are available on the Internet) and reflect on what the job of Principal Tubist in an orchestra entails.

As far as feeling sorry for Horn players, I just don't see it. We're doing Don Juan and Death & Transfiguration this week and I just can't feel sorry for those lucky Horn players. Would you feel sorry for those folks who were forced to play those parts? Enough said! :^) My opinion for what its worth...
