Pretty scary to read, Sean. I've had periods of being as frustrated as "Frustrated" with a tuner. Now I should note that I'm a rank amateur; I'll play every day or every other day for a few months, then not a all for six months. This last time's been closer to eight months, mostly due to disagreements with my tuner.

My ear is OK. When I play with others, I can usually keep to pitch--as I can when playing scale-oriented etudes or familiar tunes. But when I try something new or unusual from sheet music, I get totally lost in terms of intonation.

I have a decent 3/4 size Miraphone F, from the '70s, I think. Might it be that I don't have player/horn symmetry? Other suggestions?
