I have had only one Amati instrument, so my experience base is very limited. I purchased a new Amati trombone-----it had three piston valves and two mains, one in C and the other in Bb. The overall fit and finish were excellent and the horn sounded very good. The price was very reasonable. On the negative side, the valves were the WORST I have seen on any horn in my 55 years of playing instruments. They were terrible. If Amati would simply upgrade their piston valves, they would have some fairly decent horns.
