Yep.
It's quite awkward to try to measure just how much to shave off. I use a "low tech" method:
"hmm, looks like if I take off ._ _ _" that won't be quite enough.
[bloke takes off . _ _ _" - which is not quite enough...tests it in the casing...not quite enough...buzzes off a little more...almost enough...buzzes off a little more...]
"AHH, just right."
Finally, shrink/refit the bearings, "recenter" in the casings (a bit of a weird phenom that is sometimes necessary when tightening the fit of the bearings - particularly with OLD rotary valves)...then
DONE!
