I haven''t seen this subject come up on the BBS and so I'm wondering what opinions there are out there on how thoroughly a tuba should be braced.
I can understand why some manufacturers go light on bracing--it's another manual operation, adds weight and makes the instrument harder to buff (gets in the way).
Does a tuba that's been braced to a fare-thee-well sound better or worse than a tuba with comparatively light bracing? Can anyone point to any personal experience or empirical evidence one way or the other?
