Lower the legs so the middle is almost to the floor and adjust the column as needed-guaranteed it will fit under any chair as I have done it!As to the rubberized pad, I used that for quite awhile. I sit on folding metal chairs most of the time and found that my left hip was pressed hard against the angled leg support at the back of the chair, resulting in a lot of pain and--ultimately--bursitis, exactly where it was pressed against the chair! Suffice it to say, I have permanently given up the pad for the K&M am delighted to be able to walk without bursitis pain again!
