I sometimes sell K&M and DEG stands. I have a new-condition K&M here at the house. I tried out using a tuba stand - a DEG a while back with a Hirsbooger, and a K&M with my current tuba.

I've never felt particularly comfortable with a playing stand, and found that orienting myself on the LEFT corner of a flat, slightly-padded chair and setting my contrabass tuba on the left corner of the chair between my legs - rather than on a stand - works best for me (as long as the tuba is not 1/ a poorly-balanced and 10-ton way-too-thick over-built thing or 2/ an ergonomic nightmare).

I didn't use the DEG stand long enough to ever break it (??) - so no comments here about comparitive durability...and I sold the DEG in like-new condition. I you want to buy my K&M, you can email me. I don't think I'll be using it.
