That would not exclude that person from winning the audition. I judged an audition where a student forgot to turn the page and stopped in the middle of the etude, turned the page, and then continued like nothing had happened. He still got first chair and went on the All-State.
This however, is very different from dropping a note in Prokofieff's Romeo & Juliet on the f minor theme while playing behind a curtain for a pro gig.
