If you are used to reading euphonium in treble clef, you can switch to an Eb tuba within the hour. You only have to add three sharps and you're there. The lower register of an Eb tuba will have more or less the same fingerings as the BBb - just use the 4th valve - especially on a compensating horn.
Apart from fingerings, you really don't have to worry about which type to choose - just make sure that the horn is large enough so that it has a reasonably solid lower register.
