As on any brass instrument, there's no upper limit on the notes anyone can play; after a certain point, the horn quits resonating and simply becomes a megaphone. Similarly, there's no real low limit either, but the ear's ability to hear very low frequencies drops off very rapidly below about 30 Hz. That "pedal F" has almost no fundamental in it--it's almost all harmonic content. But if you want to play very low notes, get out your watch and click your tongue periodically...

Playing musically in tune with a good tone, however, is far more important than one's absolute range.
