The official name of the compensating system used on current euphoniums and tubas is the Blaikley compensating system, named for the inventor. Boosey and Hawkes owned the rights to the Blaikley compensating system, so prior to the 1970s you won't find it on other brands. When the patent expired others joined in on this system as it proved to be the most successful. The type of system on your old Besson probably had a name but I doubt if anyone knows what that name was, as it became obsolete.
