The thing that disturbs me about this is that teaching and performing are two different careers. One may involve the other, but there are those who have a love and gift of teaching and those for whom the same can be said for performing.
But to consider teaching as a "fall back" for an underemployed performer is doing any potential students a grave disservice. I've known motivated teachers whose first choice and love is teaching and I've also known those who teach because they can't earn enough by performing. Too bad for any student who draws them.
